About

Our family story is the story of America itself. It is a journey that began long before we settled in the hollers of Kentucky. It started with the earliest pilgrims stepping onto Plymouth Rock. It moved through the colonial history of Virginia and the rugged trails of Tennessee. Finally, it found its home in the mountains of Pike County, Kentucky.

This website is our virtual time capsule. It celebrates the rich tapestry of Holt generations across the ages. Whether you are here to research the past or look for photos from the latest reunion, you have found your home base.

The Anchors
While our lineage is vast, our specific branch of the Holt Universe finds its true north in two people: Henry Collins Holt and Matilda Baldwin. For generations, family lore and confusing records often referred to the matriarch of our line as “Martha,” but the records prove otherwise. It was the resilient Matilda Baldwin who married Henry in 1866. Together, they settled on the Bear Fork of Robinson Creek to build a home and a legacy. From that single cabin in the mountains, a family grew that now spans the entire nation. They are the anchors of our tree, and we are the living proof of their endurance.

History is not just about the past. It is about us right now. While our roots were planted by Henry and Matilda, our branches flourished under the care of Landon and Rebecca Holt. It is through their children that most of us today trace our connection to this legacy.

This site is for the living family as much as the ancestors. Here you will find stories about our “Friends & Neighbors,” updates on family gatherings, and galleries of the faces you know and love. Every Holt has a story. Together, we weave the fabric of time. Welcome!
